Your role
As a Strategic Account Executive for MGAs at Ascend, you will spearhead go-to-market efforts of the Ascend product as we grow into a New vertical. You will be a one-person marching band, taking a solution with demonstrated product-market fit and operationalizing and successfully scaling the go to market motion.
This role will play a critical role in Ascend's growth - both by tangibly contributing to revenue growth in a new segment by winning new accounts as well as developing the playbook for future vertical expansion. This role reports directly to the Head of Revenue.
Responsibilities will include
Objective #1: In your first 30 days, you will onboard and get up to speed on Ascend, our processes and our market:
- Develop a deep understanding of how Ascend delivers and adds value to our customers by meeting with all key business leaders to understand our business model, customers, approach, and opportunities
- Learn the product and do a successful presentation, discovery and demonstration for our prospects
- Start shadowing current MGA deals in the Sales Pipeline, understand the ongoing solution mapping per deal, and assist during onboarding with the Customer Success team
Objective #2: In your first 60 days, you will begin owning and influencing our MGA GTM motions:
- Begin prospecting and owning deals, refining our existing sales processes best practices and methodology to fit the MGA vertical
- Collaborate with Marketing to attend trade shows and conventions as needed and maintain LinkedIn presence, promoting marketing material and connecting with industry members
- Work closely with the product and engineering team to improve the product based on customer learnings and need
Objective #3: In your first 90 days, you will shift toward how to scale the MGA vertical:
- Have fully run an MGA sale from prospecting to a closed won customer
- Work closely with the Leadership Team to provide input on the growth of the business and align revenue strategy with overall company objectives
- Start building out a long-term hiring plan for SDRs, customer success, and future AE hires
You might be a good fit if you have
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in selling products into the commercial, mid-market segment. SaaS selling experience is a plus but not required.
- Accountability: Comfortable rolling up your sleeves, getting deep into the numbers, tracking down the data, and delivering on a short timeline with limited resources. Ability to work in an entrepreneurial work environment where self-motivated individuals succeed
- Velocity-Minded: A mindset that values speed with focus, adaptability, and startup scrappiness.
- Flexibility: You understand that at growth stage companies, things will evolve, and you may have to be flexible in your approach and in your expectations. You are open-minded and adapt well to changing environments as a company grows and scales.
- Financial Services Background: Familiarity with financial services, especially in the context of insurance, is helpful.
