The Role
Burson has an immediate opening for a seasoned Account Supervisor, Consumer & Brand with a specialty in brand sports experience, media relations and media hosting to join our Consumer & Brand Sector. This is a terrific opportunity on a very popular and exciting global sportswear brand. The Account Supervisor will support a variety of projects and interact daily with client teams and Burson account staff, as well as collaborate with various Burson practices. Core focus will include working with account teams on both day-to-day and longer-lead client projects. You will play a part in strategic planning, implementation of campaigns and be a strong liaison with media to produce a steady beat of coverage, and lead projects specifically within US Sports. Media hosting is a major part of what we do, so you must have experience and understand what makes press trips work and generate coverage, and ideally have experience managing these trips on your own.
This role may also come with some work on issues and crisis management. You must be capable of providing unique insights and problem-solving guidance while working closely with your team to develop and execute campaigns. You must be able to manage people and effectively maintain best in class client service.
This role requires an individual who is proactive, capable of blending trends and culture into meaningful PR strategies, understands the media landscape - specifically in sports and culture - and what editors / reporters need today, passion for a variety of sports, willing to dream-up fresh ideas to marry client campaigns with what is happening across digital culture. A special plus if you also have issues and crisis communications experience.
The Work
- An expert in sports and knowledgeable in culture and streetwear. The role will be a lead across all US Sports
- Establish strong client relationships and impactful relationships with key media in sports and culture
- Maintain a constant pulse on what's happening across all of sports, with a talent for identifying the next rising athlete or team
- Understand the evolving media landscape, looking to digital channels (e.g., TikTok, Instagram) to round out PR strategies beyond traditional .com and broadcast for social-first coverage
- Craft thoughtful points of view and recommendations based on a broad understanding of consumer behavior, media relations and industry landscapes.
- Develop client messaging and compelling brand narratives to share across channels
- Development of brand statements when issues arise. Working closely with the global team to align on issues and crisis protocol and management
- Consult on earned media strategies, media lists, organizational partnerships, editorial calendars, conferences, and awards
- Management of project budgets alongside an understanding of agency financial processes
- Act as day-to-day client-facing lead, leading meetings and possessing excellent presentation skills
- Managing, maintaining and growing media relationships. You will be expected to pitch and secure coverage as well as attend and lead press trips
- Responsible for leading/staffing press trips, client events and meetings, sometimes by yourself (there will travel once per month for this client)
- Developing written materials, including reports, press releases, presentations, analyses, coverage recaps, and general client correspondence
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff
Experience That Contributes To Success
- 4-6 years of public relations experience; experience in sports, culture and consumer. Note: this role is more than just straight-forward sports - it must combine sport with equality, inclusions and the beat of culture.
- Strong consumer brand background and experience leading consumer campaigns for complex, global organizations.
- Experience working on campaigns designed for Gen Z and diverse communities and consumers
- Strong written and verbal communications skills across a range of mediums (social media, long-form content, media materials/press releases, presentations, messaging etc.)
- Experience managing projects from end-to-end, being solution oriented and always keeping in mind client goals
- Ability to act quickly under pressure during issues and crisis management moments. This role may oversee issues & crisis on behalf of the brand
- Preferred experience working on communications for a Fortune 100 and/or CPG company
- Experienced with Cision, Microsoft suite of tools, MuckRack, Brandwatch and Google Workspace (a plus).
- Experience effectively managing multiple workstreams and client budgets.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $50,000 to $105,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
