And we are in need of a co-conspirator (aka Sr. Account Executive) to join us! We are looking to reset expectations— what brands expect from agencies and what consumers expect from brands. As such, we want to work with people that have a diverse background, agitators to the status quo that don’t fit into a single “box.”
The ideal Sr. Account Executive candidate will understand the fast-paced media world and must be professional, enthusiastic, a solid team leader/ player and possess a drive for achieving results. They should have outgoing entrepreneurial energy, strong decision making and analytical skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to think strategically and creatively, the ability to multi-task, a willingness to roll up their sleeves, self-motivated with a passion for communications and marketing.
The primary responsibilities for Sr. Account Executive, include:
- Act as a senior, strategic counselor for clients. Manage work streams and both lead and collaborate with internal and external teams on program and campaign strategy and execution, including material development and oversight as well as project and account management.
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations across the public relations account teams, including, but not limited to: strategic planning, media outreach, managing budgets and forecasting revenue and expenses accurately to make decisions ensuring accounts run effectively and efficiently.
- Oversee provision of account resources, agency staff bandwidth.
- Proactively and reactively embrace agency new business efforts, helping to select, draft pitch materials and onboard clients that align with the culture and overall agency objectives. Generate incremental business opportunities with existing clients by taking a broad view of the entire marketing and communications mix and offering strategic recommendations to drive revenue.
- Collaborate with agency integrated teams and attend client meetings to provide counsel and seamless project management.
- Direct and supervise staff responsibilities and manage and delegate responsibilities of daily workflow of accounts while driving consistent media results. Help account team(s) work effectively and in the best interests of client(s); maximize agency’s network of resources to enhance client services.
- Motivate team members by promptly reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
- Participate in external company promotion through articles, speeches, presentations, professional memberships, etc. Build leadership role in outside organizations to increase agency’s visibility in marketplace and generate new business opportunities.
- Develop and implement account teams protocols and procedures to improve agency processes, as necessary.
- Have a broad business understanding, strong analytical abilities, and critical, creative thinking. They should have the ability to engage off- and online audiences and tell complex stories in an easily digestible way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications
- 4+ years of relevant experience in communications and/or public relations. Agency experience preferred.
- Solid team leadership and team-building experience, including management of both local team members and remote/ satellite office team members. A strong team orientation is critical based on the collaborative agency culture.
- A strong rolodex of media relationships spanning verticals (e.g. business, trade, consumer and lifestyle).
- Proficiency in writing and editing materials including client media materials, Op-Ed/ byline articles, client correspondence and reports. Exceptional written communications skills, with the ability to adapt style to suit different communications media and audiences.
- Demonstrable experience of communicating complex and nuanced issues to the media.
- Creative, energetic personality and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, outside normal office hours and to be on call as required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends to handle media inquiries.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, and willingness to 'pitch in' as required while prioritizing and assisting on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Track record of leading efforts for and winning new business – either through the incremental growth of current clients or participation in business efforts.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Cision and Muck Rack required.
